Caring for Your Jewellery
Designed to Last, Crafted to Be Loved
Every piece of jewellery tells a story. With thoughtful care, your treasured pieces can retain their beauty for years to come and be enjoyed for generations.
While precious metals and gemstones are naturally durable, everyday wear can expose jewellery to moisture, cosmetics, chemicals, and impacts. A few simple care habits will help preserve their brilliance and longevity.
General Jewellery Care
To keep your jewellery looking its best:
- Put your jewellery on after applying perfumes, lotions, hairsprays, and cosmetics.
- Remove jewellery before swimming, exercising, gardening, or household cleaning.
- Avoid contact with harsh chemicals, including chlorine and cleaning products.
- Store pieces separately to prevent scratching and tangling.
- Wipe jewellery gently with a soft cloth after wearing to remove oils and residue.
Caring for Gold Jewellery
Gold is a timeless and durable precious metal, but it can still accumulate everyday marks and surface scratches.
Clean your gold jewellery occasionally using warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. To maintain its lustre, store gold pieces in a fabric-lined jewellery box or pouch when not being worn.
Caring for Sterling Silver
Sterling silver naturally develops a soft patina over time through exposure to air and moisture. Regular wear often helps slow tarnishing, as the natural oils from your skin can keep silver bright.
When needed, polish gently with a silver polishing cloth and store in an airtight pouch or jewellery box to minimise oxidation.
Caring for Pearls
Pearls are among nature's most delicate treasures and require special attention.
Pearls should be the last thing you put on and the first thing you remove. Avoid contact with perfumes, hairsprays, cosmetics, and cleaning products. After wearing, gently wipe pearls with a soft cloth to remove any residue and store them separately from harder gemstones and metals to prevent scratching.
Caring for Cables and Snake Chains
Care must be taken to prevent cables and snake chains from bending or kinking, as these cannot be removed. Kinks may occur if squashed during sleep or knocked while showering - better not to wear at these times.
Heavy pendants may also cause a kink, so check that the weigh of the pendant is appropriate before attaching.
During storage, allow enough space so that the cable lies naturally. Please don't force into a tight container.
Professional Cleaning & Maintenance
We recommend having frequently worn jewellery professionally inspected and cleaned from time to time. Regular maintenance can help identify loose settings, worn clasps, or signs of wear before they become larger issues.
If you have any questions about caring for a specific piece, we are always happy to help.
